Description:

The Lone Star School is a single-story, but recently stuccoed, rectangular (65′ x 34′) building covered by a hipped roof with hipped gable extending over the entry. The southern entrance contains a covered brick stucco porch and two single wood doors. Wood sash windows are singly spaced. Although the building has been converted into a private residence, its architectural integrity is intact and it could be restored to its original condition.
The Lone Star School is significant as being representative of WPA-constructed country schools which provided educational service to rural communities. As a WPA project, the building was also unique architecturally for its style, workmanship, and construction materials. In addition, construction of the building provided some economic relief for unemployed workers in this agricultural region.[1]
