Childers School contains four rooms and is a single-story, rectangular (49′ x 68′) structure constructed of cut, coarsed, and rusticated native stone. The roof is flat with parapets. The encased windows have concrete lentils and sills. New cross gables have been added to doorways in the front and back of the building. Boards have been inserted into the windows to make them smaller. The structure has been painted a pinkish color. The alterations, however, do not impeach the integrity of the structure.
Within the community, the building is unique in type, style, scale, materials, and workmanship. Construction of this school provided work for the unemployed and infused wages of some 16,000 man-hours of labor into the local economy. This assistance helped ease the social and economic distress caused by the depression. It also created educational opportunities for those in a rural area of Oklahoma.

Gym

The gym is a single-story, rectangular (34′ x 61 ‘) structure of cut, coarsed, and rusticated native stone of a buff color. The roof is flat with parapets. The single entry door has a concrete lentil. The windows have concrete lentils and sills, and the window panes are gone. The north wall has been replaced with a red brick wall. This alteration impeachs the integrity of the building.
The type, style, scale, materials, and workmanship of this gym are unique to the area. The project provided employment for destitute laborers and provided recreational opportunities for children in the area.[1]

VERBAL BOUNDARY DESCRIPTION: Go west of Delaware on highway no. 28 some 6 miles and south on highway no. 28, 1/2 mile to the gym site, being in the NE corner of the NE 1/4 of Sec. 1, T 26 N, R 16 E, and goes 416 feet south, 208 feet east, 416 feet north, and 208 feet west.

Although these directions state to go west of Delaware, google maps shows Childers community is east of Delaware.
