Description:

The Elmore City Gymnasium is rectangular in shape (109′ x 62′) and is constructed of red brick. The roof is gabled. On the west and south, entryways are recessed behind arches. On the west and north sides, window openings, with cut limestone sills, are filled with wood inserts. These and major additions to two sides of the building have pretty much impeached its architectural integrity.
WPA constructed gymnasiums of red brick are relatively rare, a fact that makes this structure unique. However, the gym was begun before the WPA program came on to the scene, and only a small portion of the work was completed under its jurisdiction. This fact, and the alterations, disqualify the building for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places.

VERBAL BOUNDARY DESCRIPTION: The building is situated in the W 1/2, SE, SW, SE of Sec. 22, T 2 N, R 2 W.
