At the close of the calendar year, completion of a new two-story school building in Watonga was being speeded up. When completed, it will represent an expenditure on the part of the WPA and the local school board of approximately $65,000. Stone for Watonga’s new high school building is being quarried six miles from the city. In addition, the school grounds and athletic field are being graded, sodded and a drainage system installed.

This was two separate projects, both are made of native stone. It began as the High School, than the Junior High School and finally prior to new buildings developed a Middle School. WPA plaques were found at each of the side entrances.

High School WPA Appropriations: $33,844
