Description:
The classroom additions to Asher High School were placed on the north and south ends of the original school facility. They are rectangular (53′ x 31′) and are constructed of brick. The roof is flat with concrete capped parapets. Windows with concrete block sills are placed by threes; the entryways are recessed.
These additions are interesting because they reflect that the Asher Public School system already had a reasonably good facility at the onset of the depression, but used the WPA to extend its plant. Also construction of the two additions provided job opportunities to long unemployed workers who had been forced to depend upon welfare to provide for their families.
VERBAL BOUNDARY DESCRIPTION: The Asher school is located in Lots 13-24, Block 11, Highland Park Addition to Asher original.
