Description:
This fieldhouse has two rooms and is a single-story, V-shaped (36′ x 56′) building constructed of cut, coursed, and rusticated native stone of buff color. The roof is gabled contains intersecting gables. The main entrance is in between the two rooms and is defined by large pediments. There are small windows at the eaves with concrete sills. The two windows on the main entrance have concrete lentils also. The pediments and some parts of the entrance have been painted blue and white and wood shingles have been added to the windows. These alterations do not impeach the architectural integrity of the building.
The construction of this fieldhouse contributed to available recreational activities which bolstered morale at a time when the economic crisis affected a majority of the people in this country. This WPA project provided jobs for unskilled and unemployed laborers within the area and infused the wages of some 411,400 man-hours of labor into the local economy. The fieldhouse is also unique in Sapulpa in terms of style, type, materials, and workmanship.[1]
