IN JULY 1940, THE STROUD NEWSPAPER ANNOUNCED PLANS FOR A NEW, WPA-CONSTRUCTED, SIX-ROOM GRADE SCHOOL TO “RELIEVE CONGESTED CONDITIONS” THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW BUILDING PRODUCED NOT ONLY NEEDED JOBS FOR LOCAL MEN BUT ALSO INCREASED THE ECONOMIC VIABILITY OF THE IMMEDIATE AREA. THE BUILDING PROJECT FURTHER RESULTED IN AND IMPROVED EDUCATIONAL FACILITY WHICH INCREASED THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION IN LINCOLN COUNTY WHILE ALSO
KOBERLING AND FLEMING, ARCHITECTSWPA, BUILDERPROVIDING AND ENHANCED SPACE FOR COMMUNITY EVENTS.
THE RECTANGUALR, ONE- STORY BUILDING IS TOPPED BY A FLAT ROOF. THE WALLS ARE BUILT OF POLYCHROMATIC NATIVE SANDSTONE. THE BUILDING'S PLAN DIVIDES THE SIX-ROOM SCHOOL INTO THREE ROOMS ON THE NORTH SIDE AND THREE ON THE SOUTH.
