Description:

This school of four rooms is a single-story, rectangular (35′ x 64′) structure constructed of cut, coursed, and rusticated native stone of buff color. The roof is gabled with a large center gable on the front. The main entrance is recessed behind a porch in the northwest corner with concrete steps leading to it. The window openings, that extend to the eaves, have been filled with concrete blocks and smaller windows added. This alteration impeaches the integrity of the structure.
Construction of this WPA school is significant because it created a new environment conducive to learning in this rural and remote area. It also gave useful work to those badly in need of some kind of economic security during hard times. Architecturally, the structure is unique in comparison to other buildings nearby in terms of type, style, materials, scale, and workmanship.
