Description:

The Osage Hill School contains at least twelve rooms and is a two-story, rectangular (107′ x 118′) structure constructed of coursed and rusticated native stone of buff color. The roof is triangular in the center and flat on each side. All parts of the roof have parapets. The roof also has a ventilator. The slighty recessed entryway is lined with concrete. Small windows were arranged above the entrance as decoration. It has a four-door entrance. Some sashed windows have sheet metal inserts. The teachers lived in the upper story of this structure. Garage doors have been made in the wall on the east and west sides. An addition is attached to the south side. Steel bars are also attached to the school.
Construction of this school provided work for unskilled and unemployed laborers who needed some kind of economic security. The building is unique in terms of type, style, materials, workmanship, and especially scale. No other structure in the area compares in size. This school is also significant because it enhanced educational opportunities in this rural area.
