The Home Economics Cottage at McLoud School is a single-story, rectangular (52′ x 36′) structure constructed of brick. The shingled, gabled roof has an intersecting side gable that opens to the front extrance. All of the windows have been altered by either bricking them over or filling them with wood insets. The structure has a brick exterior chimney, and brickwork friezes add decoration.
SIGNIFICANCE: 1941; builder/architect: unknown
Construction of the cottage provided much-needed employment for many farmers whose farms had not produced due to drought. By helping themselves, these farmers were able to build facilities conducive to learning on the McLoud school campus. The structure is also notable for its type, style, and workmanship.
