Description:
The Limestone School is a single-story, rectangular (66′ x 44′) structure constructed of uncut native stone of auburn and buff colors. The roof is flat with an intersecting center gable over the front entry. This front entry is recessed behind an archway. Aluminum framed windows with partial plastic inserts have replaced the original windows. Additions have been added on the north and south sides of the building. These alterations destroy the integrity of the structure.
The construction of this school provided work opportunities for unemployed and unskilled laborers during the course of the depression. In reference to other structures in the area, it is unique in type, style, and workmanship. This project enchanced educational opportunities in the area and raised morale among the people during the time of hardship.
