Description:
This school and gymnasium of six or more rooms is a single-story, rectangular (114′ x 73′) structure constructed of brick. Masonry of the building is running bond. The roof is flat with parapets. The entrance is recessed behind a round arch within a triangular archway. The sashed windows contain lentils of brick which have been inserted vertically. Concrete block additions have been attached to the north and back side of the structure. The building has been painted a tan color with all trim painted dark brown. The windows have been filled with partial wood inserts. The alterations have impeached the integrity of the building.
This structure is unique in type, style, scale, materials, and workmanship. This WPA project gave jobs to many unskilled workers at a time early on in the depression when gainful employment was impossible and provided improved and modern educational opportunities to numerous students in this rural area. The structure is still used for educational purposes.
