Description:
Constructed of untooled and uncoursed native sandstone, the Hazel Auditorium is a single-story, rectangular (60′ by 35′) structure. The roof is gabled. The front, double-door entryway is set in an arch, while the windows have pre-formed concrete sills and lintels. On the front the wood sash windows are set by twos; elsewhere they are set singly. Its general state of neglect disqualifies it for the National Register.
The little Hazel auditorium reflects an early stage of the WPA construction program where structures were crudely constructed and modest in scale. Construction of it suggested the varied nature of the WPA works program and provided jobs for destitute workers in the area who had been long without employment. Architecturally the structure is notable within the community in terms of materials, workmanship, type and style.
