Description:

The County Garage at Konawa is a two-story, rectangular (124′ x 44′) structure constructed from rusticated and coursed native sandstone. It consists of a garage below with five offices above. The roof is arched and has parapets with a concrete cap. Second story entries are reached by stairs (one concrete and the other metal). There are four garage doors below. The steel casement windows have concrete sills. The structure is extremely well-built.
Construction of this garage during the early months of the WPA helped to relieve the suffering of many families by providing men with employment. It also helped fulfill a need for such a garage when county funds were not sufficient to complete the task. The building has supposedly withstood a tornado which leveled many structures in the area. Architecturally, the building is significant for its type, style, scale, materials and workmanship

VERBAL BOUNDARY DESCRIPTION: Located on the northeast edge of Konawa, the tract begins at a point 208 feet west of the southeast corner of the NW 1/4, of Sec. 21, T 6 N, R 5 E and goes 208 feet north, 208 feet west, 208 feet south and 208 feet east.
