Description:

The WPA built the Tribbey Home Economics Cottage out of uncut, uncoarsed native sandstone. The mortar is beaded. The building is essentially square (34′ x 33′) with a shingled, gable roof with intersecting side gable. The main entry is located under a porch. Most of the wood sash windows have been removed and blocked in with cinder block, an alteration that compromises the integrity of the structure.
The Home Economics Cottage is unique in type, style, materials, and workmanship. It is significant that construction of the building provided work opportunities for unskilled, unemployed laborers. Without federal help it is doubtful that the district could have afforded to build the structure at that time.
