Description:
This tennis court area measures 132′ x 201′ and is constructed of concrete. A stone fence of coursed and rusticated stone of buff color was constructed around the courts. Fences and lights were added, and a small addition constructed of concrete blocks is also attached to the southeast corner of the court area. The playing courts have been painted green.
Construction of these tennis courts and the stone fence provided work for destitute laborers on relief, giving them an income that prevented starvation. Recreational opportunities were also enhanced. The stone fence constructed around these courts make them very unique within the community and in Okmulgee County.
